Okra occasion - SEPTEMBER 6, 2025

Join us for the Okra Occasion

The OKra Occasion Event

Join us on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 11 am.

What Is Okra?

Okra is most widely known as a vegetable but since it has seeds, it actually a fruit.

Okra grows best in tropical and subtropical climates, and especially well in warm temperature regions.

Okra is a well-known ingredient, used in many dishes all around the world.

When asked what okra tastes like, many describe it as having a "green" or vegetal flavor that is unique to itself.  Sometimes it is compared to eggplant or green beans.

When cooked quickly, okra can have a crunchy texture.  This changes when it's cooked slowly, where it has the chance to become tender.

To learn more about this delicious locally grown crop, visit us at this year's Okra Occasion on September 7th!
